Three people were treated for minor injuries after passengers were evacuated from a United Airlines jet at O’Hare International Airport on Wednesday afternoon as crews put out a small fire in the aircraft’s brake assembly.
Emergency slides were deployed from United Flight 949 from London’s Heathrow Airport and passengers were escorted to the terminal, company spokesman Mike Trevino said. There were 178 passengers and 12 crew members on the Boeing 767, he said.
During the evacuation, the plane was parked off the southwest corner of the C Concourse of United Airline’s Terminal 1.
