SINGAPORE – Agoda.com, Asia’s global hotel booking site and a part of Nasdaq-listed Priceline.com, today announces its Top10 Rome hotels, just in time for the Estate Romana 2010 festival.

Estate Romana translates to “Roman summer” – a summer-long festival of the arts, encompassing musical, theatrical, and artistic events. The festival has been a fixture of Rome for 33 years and gives travelers the opportunity to experience different aspects of Roman culture and tradition. Most events take place from June to August, though some programs continue to the end of October.

For the duration of Estate Romana, the entire city of Rome becomes a stage, from the suburbs to the historic center. Classical, rock, and jazz concerts crop up in parks and piazzas and an outdoor cinema set up on Tiber Island makes the most of Italy’s mellow summer evenings.

More than 150 separate events are scheduled for this year’s festival. The beautiful 17th-century Villa Doria Pamphili – the largest public park in Italy – hosts theatrical and musical productions in its manicured gardens. The ancient Foro di Augusto provides a fitting backdrop for historical shows. Big name music artists also feature, with Elton John, Guns n’ Roses, Norah Jones, and Elvis Costello performing this year.

For something classically Italian, visitors are treated to three Verdi operas – La Traviata, Aida, and Rigoletto – while literature buffs will enjoy a roster of Shakespearean plays staged in Rome’s Silvano Toti Globe Theatre.

To help visitors get the most out of their Estate Romana experience, Agoda has selected its Top 10 Rome hotels. Some have great swimming pools for maximum comfort during summer, some have rooftop terraces with sweeping city-wide views, and some offer guests glimpses into Rome’s amazing past. All offer travelers terrific savings when booked through Agoda.com.
