Moscow – For the first time, Russia has devoted to Cuba the opening day of the International Travel and Tourism Fair (Intorurmarket) starting on Saturday at the Moscow-based Krocus Expo, a source from the Cuban delegation said.

This is in recognition of the interest of Russian travellers for Cuba as a destination, said director of the office of MINTUR (the Cuban Ministry of Tourism) in Russia, Carlos Oscar Hernandez said.

He told Prensa Latina that Deputy Director of the Federal Tourism Agency of Russia, Natalia Shenguelia, and Deputy Minister of MINTUR Maria Elena Lopez will attend the opening of the largest stand ever presented by Cuba in this fair (861 square feet).

We will have a very busy day, as our ministry and firms including Cubanacan, Havanatur and Gaviota will present their products, he added.

We hope to sign a large number of contracts on March 15-18, thus maintaining the upward trend of the past three years, with nearly 30,000 Russian visitors in 2007.
