Severe storm causes close to 1000 flight cancellations in Chicago

CHICAGO, USA – A severe storm has lead to the cancellation of close to 1,000 flights into and out of airports in Chicago, where up to 10 inches of snow is forecasted to drop down into northern Illinois.

The Chicago Department of Aviation said today that more than 770 flights were canceled at O’Hare International Airport and more than 215 flights were canceled at Midway International Airport.

United Airlines today announced travel options for customers whose flight plans are disrupted by winter storms impacting the Midwest and Mid-Atlantic regions. Customers ticketed on flights to, from, or through airports in the path of the storm may reschedule their itineraries in advance of the storm with a one-time date or time change, and the airline will waive the change fees.
