Philadelphia saw the opening of its first micro-hotel in the form of Pod Philly by Pod Hotels.
A micro-hotel, sometimes referred to as a microtel, generally means the guest rooms are small. On average, they are usually around 163 square feet. This is on par with other pod or capsule hotels. Think maximizing space like a New Yorker in a studio apartment.
The Pod Philly property was developed by Modus Hotels and Parkway Corporation and opened in the Rittenhouse Square neighborhood. The hotel is located in Philadelphia’s business and retail districts.
Pod Hotels has announced its first West Coast property with Pod LA slated for 2021. The brand plans to expand to even more markets including Miami, San Francisco, Chicago, Austin, Boston, Nashville, Seattle, Montreal, Toronto, and Mexico City, among others.
