LOS ANGELES, California – Green Globe certified Congress Center Leipzig in Leipzig, Germany, has been announced “Best Congress & Convention Center” in Europe at the Business Destinations Travel Awards 2012 in London.

Now in its fourth year, British publication, Business Destinations, rewards businesses in a range of categories for their contributions to the world of corporate travel. Nominations for best providers from across the globe had been received throughout the year. The expert panel of jury included the international Association of Corporate Travel Executives (ACTE) and the world’s top 500 business’ travel department managers. The awards cover a wide range of different categories, from budget airlines in Europe to luxury hotels in Asia, and results serve as a guideline to the top performers in business travel.

“In 2011, we hosted the ICCA Convention (world association of the congress sector), which was a stroke of luck for us,” said Martin Buhl-Wagner, Managing Director at the Leipziger Messe complex, “Professionals from over 50 countries experienced the quality of our location and the convention centers. With this wonderful award the Congress Center Leipzig has now secured a top spot on the list for meeting and convention planners worldwide.”

The jury recognized the Congress Center’s excellent conditions and infrastructure of the building and all surrounding facilities, the quality of the hotels and the image of the city of Leipzig. It was noted that the Congress Center Leipzig stands out for exceptional cooperation with event organizers and service partners.

The Congress Center Leipzig is part of Leipziger’s Messe new exhibition and convention center, and is directly connected with the exhibition halls and an impressive glass hall, which houses events of all types and sizes. The flexibility of the convention location with its modular concept offers many advantages for events of all kinds. State-of-the-art facilities and high-tech communications systems blend with exciting architecture, landscaping, and contemporary design – the property is the epitome of “modern.”

Leipziger Messe – including Congress Center Leipzig – has been demonstrating corporate social responsibility for years. True to their motto, “Growing in Balance,” the company has implemented a transparent and measurable long-term sustainability management system. It is the goal to create a new balance between economic growth and responsibility for the environment and the community. Leipziger Messe first achieved Green Globe Certification in 2010 and has been re-certified in 2011 and 2012.
