Africa’s second leading travel fair scheduled in Tanzania next week

East Africa’s premier tourism and travel exhibition, the Karibu Travel and Tourism Fair (KTTF), will take place in Tanzania’s northern tourist city of Arusha next week.

Organizers of the fair, the Tanzania Association of Tour Operators (TATO), said the fair will attract about 300 exhibitors from the travel trade industry including tour operators, airlines, hotel and accommodation providers, travel planners, and suppliers.

Second in Africa after the famous South Africa’s Indaba Fair, KTTF is an ambitious travel gathering, which brings together stakeholders from East Africa and other African safari destinations with suppliers from traditional tourist market sources of Europe, America, and Asia.

This year’s KTTF will be staged from June 4 to 6, giving opportunities to tourist stakeholders to exhibit their products at Tanzania’s safari capital and give them yet another chance to share travel business with their partners from around the world.

The annual event is organized by the Tanzania Association of Tour Operators (TATO) with support from Tanzania Tourist Board (TTB) and the Ministry of Natural Resources and Tourism (MNRT, among other organizers to be known later.
It is expected that exhibitors from Kenya, Tanzania, Uganda, and Rwanda will take part during the four-day fair. International visitors from the USA, Europe, Asia, and Australia, as well as African countries are expected to attend.

Over 250 exhibitors and thousands of regional and international visitors have confirmed their participation. Travel industry suppliers, large and small, including tour operators, tourist boards, hoteliers, and support service representatives and equipment manufacturers are typical attendees.

International travel trade journalists regularly cover the event along with local media, and “familiarization trips” are being offered to encourage international travel agents to attend.

There are currently over 1,000 qualified Tanzania travel agent specialists in the US who will participate in the KTTF or monitor its process this year, with more emphasis on marketing the East African Community (EAC) member states as a single safari destination.

Feedback and participation from overseas markets at the Arusha fair will be important for tourism operators across the region, organizers said.
Taking place at the peak of the traditional low season for East Africa, the KTTF will also allow the regional participants to take stock of where the industry now stands and what extra measures needed to be taken to spur more marketing strategies for Africa’s tourism growth.
