Global hotel chain Marriott has confirmed that they will partner with the government of Rwanda and others to build and then manage a US$60+ million five-star hotel in the heart of Kigali.
It is understood that the land was initially set aside for Dubai World to build there, but when the global economic and financial crisis hit, all their investment plans for Rwanda fell apart.
Rwanda being an up and coming tourism and investment destination, it did not take long to rekindle interest from other parts of the world and the entry of Marriott can only be applauded, as it will give Kigali and Rwanda added global exposure through Marriottโs own marketing activities to fill the new hotel when completed.
