Under the title, “Reinventing Snow and Mountain Tourism to Attract New Customers,” tourism experts from around the world will analyze the present situation of the snow and mountain tourist segment and outline the main opportunities and challenges in the face of market internationalization and the current economic climate. The event will be held from April 13-14, 2010 at Ordino Studios, Ordino, Principality of Andorra.

Since 1998, the World Congress on Snow and Mountain Tourism event has been held annually by UNWTO and the Andorran government, with the collaboration of the seven Andorran parishes. The congress aims to be the benchmark forum for the exchange of knowledge, information, and professional points of view in snow and mountain tourism.

Opening the congress, UNWTO secretary-general, Taleb Rifai, will speak on the challenge of linking the international demand for snow and mountain tourism to the local offer. Snow and mountain tourism has withstood the economic turbulence relatively well, but its offer must be adapted to world demand and promoted on international markets if it wishes to continue to grow.
