As part of Royal Jordanian (RJ) airlines’ efforts to streamline travel procedures, passengers may now check-in online and receive their boarding passes electronically. This new service began on April 1, just 5 days ago.

Through this service, RJ passengers can check in online 24 hours before departure, through the website, www.rj.com , following a series of easy steps: select country of origin and identify information by applying the ticket number, the passenger name record (PNR), frequent flyer number and last name; check in through selecting name from the search list and confirming it, in addition to picking the preferred seat; a summary of the first and second steps will enable passengers to print the boarding pass. This service enables passengers to email the electronic boarding pass to their personal email if they wish to print it at a later stage.

The web check-in is one of the projects of the International Air Transport Association’s campaign “Simplifying the Business”. RJ, a member of the oneworld alliance, is a pioneer executor of the international campaign in the Middle East and North Africa region.

The service is accessible to RJ passengers traveling out of Amman to all international destinations except for the US, as a first phase, which will be activated soon. At a later stage, the service is to be extended to cover all RJ destinations.

Online check-in also allows RJ passengers who only have carry-on luggage of appropriate size and weight to make their way directly to the boarding gate after stamping their passports at the immigration counter without passing through the traditional travel procedures.

Passengers who carry heavy luggage will have to pay a short visit to the online check-in baggage counter where the check-in agent will enter the number of bags and their weight to issue the baggage tag. The online check-in baggage counter closes one hour prior to departure.

RJ president/CEO Hussein Dabbas said, “Royal Jordanian permanently seeks to improve its services by keeping pace with the modern technology in the air transport industry.”

He stressed that the company’s ability to automate all travel procedures is due to the advanced electronic network, adding that issuing boarding passes electronically will enable travelers to cut short the time they need to go through the travel procedures and avoid standing in queues for long periods.

He called upon the passengers to read carefully the website instructions for the web check-in process, particularly information related to weight allowance for carry-on luggage and to keep a copy of the boarding pass to avoid delays at the airport.

Adding this service, RJ allows travelers to complete all travel procedures from the comfort of their home.
