Imminent arrival of global participants in Bahrain for UFI conference

Over 80 officials and members of UFI, The Global Association of the Exhibition Industry, from throughout the world are expected to arrive in Bahrain tomorrow to attend UFI’s fourth annual Open Seminar in the Middle East themed, “Toolbox for Future Exhibition Management,” which is slated to run from March 29-31, 2010.

The highlight of the key industry event includes a whole day seminar at the Bahrain International Exhibition and Convention Centre to be hosted by BECA on March 30, 2010.

Vincent Gerard, managing director of UFI, headquartered in Paris, will be leading the visiting delegation from abroad, which will include HE Ahmad Humaid Al Mazrouie, UFI Middle East/Africa (MEA) Chapter chairman and managing director of Abu Dhabi National Exhibitions Company (ADNEC), as well as Ibrahim Alkhaldi, UFI Middle East/Africa regional manager. Recognized leaders in the global expo industry have been invited as guest speakers including Rashid Toefy, CEO – Cape Town International Convention Centre; Karla Juegel, managing director – Exhibition & Event Management, Munich; Joechen Witt, CEO – JWC, Cologne; Patrick Seitter, head – Marketing /Communication, European Society of Biomechanics (ESB), Bern; and Simon Foster, CEO – United Business Media (UBM) International Media, Maarsen.

The UFI Seminar will also feature a panel discussion led by Mr. Gerard and including Barbara Rowell, CEO – Jacaranda Images, Amman; Sue Howarth, client liaison director – ADNEC; and Abdulnabi Daylami, CEO – Bahrain Tourism Company. Paul Woodward, UFI Asia/Pacific regional manager – Hong Kong, will moderate the event.

Key players from Bahrain’s Meetings, Incentives, Conventions, and Exhibitions (MICE) industry are stepping up to the plate to develop the Middle East’s event industry by sponsoring the Bahrain event.
