Agoda, Asia’s global hotel site and part of Nasdaq-listed Priceline.com, is revving up for the 2010 Formula 1 Petronas Malaysian Grand Prix with special offers that are sure to go fast.

This year’s Formula 1 Petronas Malaysian Grand Prix is set to transform the sub-tropical terrain of Sepang into a riot of adrenalin and noise as the world’s finest drivers roar through the 15-turn circuit from April 2-4. Every year, more than 100,000 fans converge at Sepang International Circuit (SIC) โ€“ conveniently located next to Kuala Lumpur’s KLIA Airport โ€“ to witness one of motorsportโ€™s most prestigious events.

Formula One cars must adhere to strict specifications that regulate dimensions, weight, materials, and technology. Each team must design and build its own cars, and awards are given to both the winning driver and the winning construction team at each Grand Prix. Since the FIA Formula 1 World Championship’s inauguration in 1950, the sport has grown into a multi-billion dollar industry. In 2006, the Ferrari team alone had a budget of more than US$400 million, 50 percent of which was spent solely on engines.

The Grand Prix’s global tour runs from Monaco to Melbourne. Tracks range from street circuits to purpose-built courses, such as the 5.5 km SIC in Sepang, one of the best in the world. The SIC’s grandstand offers panoramic views of the entire course, and race attendees can watch from the open-air Hillstand or from an exclusive full-service corporate box.

“The Malaysia Grand Prix is one of the greatest races on the global F1 circuit and held in one of the regionโ€™s most exciting urban centers,” said chief executive officer of Agoda, Mr. Michael Kenny.

โ€œKuala Lumpur is a cultural melting pot and one of southeast Asiaโ€™s most vibrant cities. Travelers can stroll through traditional markets, visit colorful Peranakan neighborhoods, or head to a luxury mall for some high-end retail therapy. Downtown KLโ€™s world-class architecture and the Petronas Towers have to be seen to be believed.โ€

To make the most of this exciting event and to discover the best of Kuala Lumpur, Agoda has secured some fantastic hotel deals this race season.
