TUV NORD, Bahrain hadover 190 applicants registered for a workshop to learn about the requirements of the International Food Safety Management Systems Standards, held during the first day at Food and Hospitality Expo 2010.

The event, which was opened on Tuesday by the HRH Prince Khalifa Bin Salman Al Khalifa, the Prime Minister of Bahrain, was organized by the Bahrain Exhibition & Convention Authority (BECA) and is being held at the Bahrain International Convention Centre (BEICC) from January 12-14 with 82 exhibitors participating.

TUV NORD has partnered with BECA to offer its support and will be conducting workshops to help people learn about how to comply with the requirements of the International Food Safety Management System Standard during the three-day premier international food and hospitality event.

Basic Food Hygiene, Basic Health and Safety for the Catering Industry, and Critical Control Points are some of the topics that will be discussed at the workshops, which aim to raise safety standards designed to ensure the safety of products, activities, and processes utilized daily in the food industry and preserve consumer confidence in the products of the food industry in Bahrain.

“We are delighted to partner with TUV Middle East, a member of TUV NORD Group, for Food & Hospitality Expo 2010, as they play a vital role in helping companies working within the food industry to develop the quality standards that are so important to maintain Bahrainโ€™s reputation in this industry,โ€ said Hassan Jaffer Mohamed, BECA. โ€œTUV Nordโ€™s participation not only enhanced the expo but also added a dimension of training to this very busy event,โ€ he added.

In only its second year, the Food and Hospitality Expo has more than doubled in size with leading companies and organizations such as TUV Middle East, Bahrain Chamber of Commerce and Industry, Coca-Cola, Tamkeen (Labour Fund), Babasons, Bahrain Modern Mills, Bahrain Airport Services, Noor Al Bahrain, The Diplomat Radissson, Hotel, Moevenpick Hotel, The Regency Inter.Continental Hotel, and local farmers and small businesses all taking part.

โ€œBECAโ€™s Food & Hospitality Expo serves as a strategic platform for those in the food, beverage, and hospitality business to buy from each other and network to exchange ideas optimizing opportunities for exhibitors and retailers. We are very happy to support this event and add value by introducing our quality training element[s], which are available for all to study and implement within their own premises,โ€ said Mr. Jamal Al Baeejan, president of TUV NORD.

The success of the expo is already clear with many exhibitors having already signed up again for next yearโ€™s event, some taking larger spaces than this year. It looks as though the Food and Hospitality Expo 2011 will, once again, increase in size and is building to become one of the regions premier events. Information about the event can be obtained on BECAโ€™s website at www.beca.bh .
