Similar to the planned expansion of the Lake Manyara National Park, the Tarangire National Park is also about to get enlarged, after negotiations with several villages were completed recently. At least three villages will be relocated to give their land to the park, following a re-demarcation of the boundaries.
The expansion is also set to incorporate a major forest into the park itself, adding a new feature for visitors and giving it extra protection. Tarangire is especially well known for their thousands of baobab trees in which often large python can be spotted and for its general game population and the large elephant herds.
The park, while admittedly less popular with overseas visitors compared to Lake Manyara, Ngorongoro, and the Serengeti, is nevertheless thought to be a must-see stop for all tourists embarking on their safari across the northern circuit due to its unique features.
