Davao City – International exhibitors will be joining the Davao Travel Show 2008 at the Event Center of SM City Davao from February 22-24, 2008.

Susan Palad, president of the Davao Travel Agencies said the MGM Grand Macau Hotel Resort is the biggest participant together with the Malaysian Tourism Promotion Board.

Palad said that the participation of the Macau grand hotel to Davao’s 2nd travel show gives as an opportunity to also sell other Davao destinations to their market as well as Malaysia’s continuing promotion of our city.

She said that while the airline industry was the top seller in last year’s show, they expect tour destinations will be the hit for this year.

She said that in partnership of Pansy Ho, managing director of Shun Tak Holdings, Ltd. of Hong Kong and Macau’s main peninsula, the hotel was inaugurated on December 18, 2007 with an investment of approximately US$1.25 billion. Close to 600 luxurious hotel rooms, suites and villas, a convertible 1452-sq.m. convention center, including a grand ballroom, extensive state-of-the art gaming facilities, 12 dining and bar venues, specialty retail shops, spa and pool.

The MGM Grand Macau Hotel she said is interested in joining the show because they noted that Philippines’ ranked number six in Macau’s top ten tourist generating markets for 2007.

She said the Global-Link MP Events International Inc. in partnership with Konkordans has organized this event in order to provide a platform for local tourism to strut their stuff. The Davao Travel Show will bring together key players, major decision-makers and specifiers in the travel and lifestyle industry.

The three-day affair last year attracted 5,700 buyers from all over the country and generated over P17 million worth of on-site sales.

“That is the main reason why 98 percent of the exhibitors gave the show an excellent rating in a survey conducted on-site,” she said.

She said the exhibitors were able to meet their objectives and forge new business contacts aside from generating sales.

The travel show is endorsed and supported by the Department of Tourism and the BIMP EAGA Tourism Council, the Davao Tourism Association, Davao Cooperative Center for Visitors and Conventions and the Tourism Council of Davao City.

Tourism Secretary Joseph Ace H. Durano will formally open the show on February 22.

The Davao Travel Show ’08 at SM City Davao event center is open to the public and exhibition hours from February 22-23 are from 10:30 am to 7:00 pm and February 24 from 10:30 am to 5:00 pm.
