Irate passengers say airline failed to inform them of flight delay


More than 100 passengers of a flight bound for Manila from Zamboanga City were stranded at the Zamboanga International Airport for more than 12 hours Wednesday after a tire replacement in their aircraft caused a delay in their flight.

Angry passengers complained however that Cebu Pacific personnel failed to inform them that their flight would be delayed.

The passengers were supposed to leave Zamboanga City for Manila 7:55 a.m.

Later it was announced that the flight will be re-scheduled past 6 p.m. of the same day.

Some passengers however were supposed to go to Manila and ride flights for Dubai in United Arab Emirates, while some were bound for London and Saudi Arabia.

Vilma Fernandez told ABS-CBN Zamboanga that she works as a nurse in London and is supposed to report to work Thursday.

A teary-eyed Isnima Mctanog meanwhile said she was apprehensive that her employer might terminate her if she will not be able to report to work on Thursday.

The passengers also alleged that Cebu Pacific personnel were not ‘customer friendly’.

Precious Tarrazona, Cebu Pacific station officer in Zamboanga City, denied however the allegations.

Cebu Pacific issued an official statement which stated:

“Flight 5J-852 has been delayed and is expected to leave at past 6 pm instead. The pilot following a routine check before every flight, has ordered one of the aircraft tires replaced. the replacement tire will arrive this afternoon, the next available flight. Cebu Pacific Airlines Inc. apologize for the inconvenience and is addressing all the needs of the affected passengers.”

With the announcement some passengers decided to re-book to a later flight and go back home instead.
