New York City aims to lure Canadian visitors, opens tourism office in Toronto

TORONTO – With the number of Canadians travelling to New York City on the rise – about 880,00 visited in 2007, up from 840,000 in 2006 – the city’s official tourism marketing agency has opened a Toronto office.

Toronto-base Porter Airlines says it will offer seven daily round trip flights between Toronto City Centre Airport and Newark Liberty International Airport starting March 31.

And Air Canada has launched its New York Weekender Pass, offering two round-trips to New York City for travel on Saturdays and Mondays from Montreal, Ottawa or Toronto.
