Headquartered in Melbourne, Australia, Platinum Travel Corporation began operations in September 2009. The company specializes in corporate travel management, event solutions, and strategic consulting and has offices in Melbourne, Sydney, Wollongong, Gerringong, and Brisbane. Founder and executive chairman Carl Buerckner is a past director and chairman of the Australian Federation of Travel Agents and former managing director of HRG Australia. “Platinum Travel’s decision to join the Global Partner Program is part of our vision to provide our Australian customers with the most up-to-date and comprehensive business travel management and event solutions, with local focus in a world market,” said Buerckner.

U. Gary Charlwood , founder, chairman, and CEO of Canadian-owned UNIGLOBE Travel International, launched the Global Partner Program to allow independent agency owners to internationalize their brands using UNIGLOBE brand recognition, referral networks, and booking technology. Membership is open to agencies in countries without UNIGLOBE master franchise license agreements.

“I am delighted to welcome Australia and Platinum Travel Corporation to our growing network of Global Partners,” said Charlwood. “Corporate travel is about to explode in developing markets in south Asia and the Pacific Rim. This partnership is a significant win-win. UNIGLOBE’s network and buying power will translate into advantages and savings for Platinum Travel clients, and Platinum’s leadership will no doubt grow our brand and referral opportunities in Australia.”

Buerckner sees potential for significant growth in Australia’s corporate travel sector. “Our national airline ranks among the top five internationally and Australia is a desirable destination for the world’s fastest-growing travel markets.”
