New head honcho at JFK Airport Holiday Inn

A 23-year hospitality industry veteran has been appointed as the new GM for the JFK Airport Holiday Inn.

Brian Mauro has been named by M&R Hotel Management as the new general manager of the Holiday Inn New York JFK Airport Area hotel, just east of John F. Kennedy International Airport in Jamaica, New York.

He will oversee all aspects of the hotelโ€™s management, including operations, sales, marketing, security, maintenance, housekeeping and accounting. He also will serve as liaison with the operator of the independently managed Brookville Restaurant & Bar on the hotelโ€™s second floor.

Mauro, formerly was general manager of the Hilton Garden Inn Long Island City Queensboro Bridge hotel in New York. From 2014 to 2017, he was general manager of the Hilton Garden Inn Riverhead hotel in Riverhead, New York, and assistant general manager at the Courtyard Long Island MacArthur Airport hotel in Ronkonkoma, New York, from 2012 to 2014.

From 2011-2014, he was director of property operations at the Holiday Inn Plainview-Long Island hotel in New York.

Mauro served in positions of increasing responsibility at hotels in Marlboro, Massachusetts; Warwick, Rhode Island; and New York from 1995 to 2014. Mauro earned associate, bachelor and masterโ€™s degrees in hospitality management and administration at Johnson & Wales University, Providence, Rhode Island. He is certified in fire safety, food protection, pool and spa operations, CPR and first aid.
