VisitBritain launches five new food and drink-themed UK itineraries

VisitBritain and Avanti Destinations have today launched five new customizable food and drink-themed itineraries to Wales and Cumbria as part of their multiyear Local Flavors in Great Britain campaign.

The campaign first launched in February 2018 with five itineraries and four shorter stays in four British culinary hubs (London, Yorkshire, Edinburgh, Cornwall/Devon), and introduced new educational tools for travel agents, including an interactive microsite, e-brochure and flyers.

Dedicated to inspiring travelers to explore Britain’s diverse culinary history and culture, VisitBritain and Avanti have now added Wales and Cumbria as new gastronomic destinations and created five new itineraries – Sips & Samples of Wales, Bite of Wales, Taste of Welsh Classics, Culinary Cumbria in a Nutshell and Lake District Getaway.

VisitBritain Executive Vice President, Americas, Gavin Landry said:

“We want to shine the spotlight on the exciting food and drink experiences available right across Britain’s nations and regions and inspire more USA visitors to book a trip right now.

“The USA is one of Britain’s most valuable markets and through our relationships with commercial partners across the globe, we are seizing the opportunity to build on strong growth and continue to provide a world-class experience for the millions of visitors who travel to British shores every year.”

Avanti’s Executive Chairman Paul Barry said:

“We have been rapidly expanding the diversity of authentic food- and drink-focused experiences that travel agents can offer to their independent travel clients because they are extremely popular.

Nothing else conveys a sense of a place like a destination’s food and drink. This ongoing partnership with VisitBritain is a great fit for our expertise in food-focused travel and our ability to create seamless multi-destination independent vacations that enhance the unique character of our destinations.”
