Playa Hotels & Resorts, the owner and operator of all-inclusive resort properties under brands such as Hyatt, Hilton, Jewel Resorts and Panama Jack Resorts in Mexico and the Caribbean, has announced the appointments of Carlos Fresco and Vishal Vaswani to general manager of Jewel Runaway Bay Beach & Golf Resort and Jewel Grande Montego Bay Resort & Spa, respectively. In their new positions, Fresco and Vaswani will be responsible for optimizing operations at each resort and further enhancing service quality and guest relations. Fresco and Vaswani’s appointments are part of Playa Hotels & Resorts’ larger employee growth model, a companywide initiative to ensure each team member’s success and advancement.

Carlos Fresco has been part of the Playa Hotels & Resorts family since 2014. Most recently, Fresco was the hotel manager at Hyatt Ziva Los Cabos in Los Cabos, Mexico, where he managed the day-to-day operations of the resort. He was also part of the team that oversaw the opening of Hyatt Ziva and Hyatt Zilara Rose Hall in Montego Bay, Jamaica.
Fluent in six languages, Fresco earned a hotel management degree from Cornell University and a master’s degree from the Pontificia Universidad Católica Madre y Maestra in the Dominican Republic that focused specifically on all-inclusive properties.
Originally from Jamaica, Vishal Vaswani joined Playa Hotels & Resorts in 2014 as director of rooms for the Hyatt Ziva and Hyatt Zilara Rose Hall, quickly climbing the ranks to his most recent position as hotel manager of the same properties. He has held a variety of managerial positions at AAA Five Diamond and five-star hotels and resorts throughout Jamaica, bringing more than a decade of tourism and hospitality experience to his new role as general manager of the Jewel Grande Montego Bay Resort & Spa.
Vaswani is a graduate from the Nova Southeastern University, where he earned a bachelor’s degree in professional management.
Vaswani and Fresco’s appointments are also part of Playa Hotels & Resorts’ overall growth in Jamaica, which includes the additional appointments of Barbara Burton to general manager at Jewel Paradise Cove, Karlene Ritchie to rooms division director at Jewel Runaway Bay and Maygon Allen to financial controller for Jewel Paradise Cove and Jewel Runaway Bay.
