Antalya Airport reaches 30 million passengers for the first time

On Tuesday, November 6, Fraport TAV Antalya Airport welcomed its 30 millionth passenger during 2018 – thus setting an all-time annual passenger record at this popular gateway to the Turkish Riviera. In comparison, Antalya Airport (AYT) served a total of 26.3 million domestic and international passengers in 2017. Antalya’s record-breaking passenger, Petra Hartberger, arrived with her family (two children and two adults) on SunExpress flight XQ 131 from Munich to sunny weather and a warm reception.

The official welcoming delegation included: Aydın Ergün, deputy governor of Antalya province; Osman Serdar, general director of the DHMI Antalya aviation authority; Mustafa Minareci, SunExpress ground operations senior manager; as well as Fraport TAV Antalya Airport general managers, Gudrun Teloeken and Deniz Varol.

To their surprise, the Hartberger family received a gift voucher from Fraport TAV Antalya Airport for accommodation at a five-star hotel on the captivating Turkish Riviera, while SunExpress presented a round-trip ticket to Antalya for the entire family. All of the passengers arriving on the record-flight enjoyed the soft musical tunes performed by a jazz trio in. Each passenger from the SunExpress flight received traditional Turkish delights and a small present from the Fraport TAV Antalya Airport Management team and SunExpress.

Antalya Airport has achieved dynamic growth throughout 2018. According to recent ACI Europe traffic statistics for the January-to-July 2018 period, Antalya Airport recorded the greatest traffic increase among airports serving 25 million or more passengers per year. Furthermore, the European air traffic control agency Eurocontrol has ranked AYT first in Europe for charter traffic in 2018, with an average of 153.6 daily charter flights per day, representing a 21 percent increase. During 2018, AYT is being served by a total of 125 airlines flying to 260 international destinations in 59 countries, plus another 25 domestic destinations with 6 airlines. AYT’s international and domestic passenger terminals are managed by Fraport TAV Antalya Airport Inc., a joint venture between Fraport AG and TAV.
