Grants protected cultural status to tango
Tango has been granted protected cultural status by UNESCO — a ruling that will be celebrated in Argentina and Uruguay, both of which claim to be the birthplace of the sensual dance. The decision was taken by 400 delegates from the UN cultural organization at a meeting in Abu Dhabi. A total of 76 living arts and traditions from 27 countries were safeguarded as part of humanity’s “intangible cultural heritage”.

Aerolineas Argentinas will have 12 new airplanes in February 2010
In February 2010, Aerolineas Argentinas will operate 12 new B-737/700 airplanes waiting for receiving next year 9 Embraer 190 units of 20 of them , meanwhile the long distance fleet will be enriched with the gradual arrival of seven Airbus 340 and six Airbus 330.

Rio de Janeiro will be the venue for the Olympic Games in 2016
Rio de Janeiro will be the organizer venue for the Olympic Games in 2016 advantaging the cities of Chicago, Tokyo and Madrid. This is the first time that the Olympic Games will be carried out in South America.

GOL began to operate its first flight to The Caribbean
GOL began regular operations between Brazil, Venezuela and Aruba. The flight with a weekly frequency will leave on Sundays from Guarulhos International Airport with scale in Caracas (Venezuela) and operated with Boeing 737-800 Next Generation airliners, the new route will be operated by the brand VARIG.

American flights again to Rio in November
In November, American Airlines will have extra seasonal flights to Rio de Janeiro and the Northeast of Brazil. From October 16th, Recife and Salvador will have daily frequencies.

Avianca and OceanAir with code sharing
Avianca y OceanAir will join Colombia flights with five Brazilian destinations such as Salvador, Brasilia, Belo Horizonte, Porto Alegre and Florianopolis. The airplanes of OceanAir will have the same standard of Avianca. The programs of fidelidad Amigo (Friend Fidelity) and Avianca Plus will also be added.

Delta Air Lines will fly between Brasilia and Atlanta from December 18th
On December 18th, Delta Air Lines will begin to fly between Brasilia and Atlanta in The United States. The flight which will be operated three times a week will be carried out with a Boeing 757.

BOLIVIA
New lodging for tourists in the Lake Titicaca
Settlers of the village of Sampaya placed at the shore of the Lake Titicaca just to 25 minutes from Copacabana, a lodging was inaugurated which is comprised of stone small houses with double and simple rooms and private bathrooms. There is also a restaurant and a viewpoint to the lake.

BOA premieres its third airplane
Boliviana de Aviacion –BoA premieres an airplane which will be added to its current fleet of two airplanes. With this new airplane BoA plans to extend its national route until Cobija (Pando) and to begin operations to Buenos Aires, Sao Paulo and Lima in December.

First Community Museum is inaugurated in Pisac
The Pisac Municipality (Cusco) and the Community Museum Association inaugurated its first community museum of the country. The place presents an exhibition about the traditional production. Also, the archeology of Pisac is exhibited including the development from the archaic period until the Inca expansion period apart from presenting 100 Pre-Hispanic places from places which reflect activities of the ancient nomadic groups up to the real state of Pachacutec.

Hotel Intercontinental Medellin is between the best hotels of the hemisphere according to the annual interview of the business magazine Latin Trade. According to this survey, the establishment is the fourth hotel in the Andean region and the eight one in Latin America with a score of 9.53 of 10 points. The annual survey choices the best travel places including the best services of airports, airlines and cars rent as well as the best hotels and restaurants in Latin American and The Caribbean.

VENEZUELA
It is created the first Venezuelan cruises line
Ola Cruises which is a division of water services in Venezuela announced the creation of the first Venezuelan cruises line in November which will have the destinations of the Venezuelan Caribbean. The Ola Esmeralda ship with capacity for 474 people will travel La Tortuga Island, Margarita and the archipelago Los Roques. This cruise has two routes of three and four days.

Parque Llao Llao will have a new five star hotel
A new five star hotel will be placed near the traditional Llao LLao next to the south boundary of the Municipal Park of Llao Llao and near to Cementerio del Montañés. The luxury residential complex will have 124 squares distributed in 62 rooms, interior and external swimming pool, SPA and a holistic room inside the establishment that will be built over the elevation 900 of the Nahuel Huapi Lake. It will have six floors, parking space between others services.

BRAZIL
Foz do Iguaçu increased foreign tourist flow
The Foz do Iguaçu National Park received 260,479 foreign tourists between January and June which 125,000 were from South America. Paraguayan (36.6%) and Uruguayan (19.1%) people were the tourists who had the biggest growing in visits to the Park in connection with the same period of 2008. Argentinian people figure as the foreigners with more visits. Between January and June of this year, they were registered 85,945 against 83,016 in the same period of 2008.

Rio de Janeiro will have Brazilian Gastronomy Museum
Rio de Janeiro plans to build a museum dedicated to the Brazilian gastronomy which regional traditional dishes will be served. Also, it will be presented some folk shows from each state, temporary exhibition, experimental cuisine with the presence of chef, presentation rooms, libraries and other attractiveness.

ACCOR will open Ibis establishments in Rio and Pará
Accor Hospitality will inaugurate two units of its Ibis brand for 2011. One of the establishments will be placed in Copacabana, Rio de Janeiro and the other in Santarém, Pará. It is estimated that both establishment will demand the investment of 28 million Reales.

CHILE
Pestana will begin next operations.
An investment per US$20 million in the zone of World Trade Center will mark the arrival of the Pestana Portuguese group to the hotel business in Chile. In September, a delegation of the holding will arrive to close the land purchasing for the hotel building which will be of four star category.

BOLIVIA
Che route will be named national tourist priority
In order to “improve the economy of the regions involved”, The Senate studies to declare as a national priority, “The Che route”, inaugurated in 2004 continuing with the itinerary carried out in 1966 and 1967 in the mountainous regions of the guerrilla country. Through this project, it is intended “to encourage the historic tourism and improve the quality of life of these regions” where will be able to generate numerous employment sources. The route includes visits to the military barracks of Camiri, Quebrada del Yuro, la Escuela de La Higuera where was assassinated Che Guevara and the ancient tombs of the Guerrilla Force in Valle Grande, all of them in the region of Santa Cruz.

It is planned to build the Ecological Park in Riberalta
Bolivian ecologists and foreigners plan the installation of an ecological park in Riberalta, Beni to preserve the wild fauna of the Amazon region of the country. The plan contemplates the building of a clinic for animals by which there is a land of 50sq.m over the road to Cachuela Esperanza (Pando). The Park will be in charged with the rescue, attention, rehabilitation and devolution of wild animals to its natural habitat.

PERU
Almost 14,000 tourists visited museums of Lambayeque during Independence Day
Almost 14,000 local and foreign tourists visited the five museums of the department of Lambayeque during the long holiday due to The Independence Day. Museo Tumbas Reales de Sipán received more than 7,600 visitors, between 25th and 31st of July, while Museo de Sitio Túcume had a flow of 2,200 people to some 33 kilometers of Chiclayo. Museo Arqueológico Bruning and Museo Nacional de Sipán de Ferreñafe received more than 2,500 visits between both precincts. The recent inaugurated Museo de Sitio Huaca Rajada Sipán placed in 28 kilometers of Chiclayo received more than 1,300 visits.

It is prepared a whole vigilance strategy for rivers of the jungle with the Navy
The General Director of the National Police Force informed that it is coordinated a whole strategy with the Peruvian Navy to reinforce the vigilance in the rivers of Loreto where some days ago it were reported two robberies to tourist cruises. It is important to implement an operation plan from Nauta, in the river Marañon, Yucuruchi, Bagazán and Genero Herrera, in the river Ucayali and zones as Sinchicuy.
