Maunganidze appointed permanent secretary for tourism in Zimbabwe

President Mugabe has appointed Dr. Sylvester Maunganidze as the permanent secretary in the Ministry of Tourism and Hospitality Industry.

President Mugabe has appointed Dr. Sylvester Maunganidze as the permanent secretary in the Ministry of Tourism and Hospitality Industry.

In a statement yesterday, the chief secretary to the president and cabinet Dr. Misheck Sibanda said the appointment takes effect with immediate effect.

Until his recent appointment, Dr. Maunganidze was the principal director in the Ministry of Media, Information, and Publicity.

A teacher by profession and a senior diplomat by training and posting, Dr. Maunganidze taught at primary, secondary, tertiary, and university levels before joining the diplomatic service in 1990.

He served at United Nations postings in Geneva and Vienna; Unesco in Paris, France; before covering bilateral stations in Berne, Rome, Madrid, Paris, Lisbon, and Vienna.

Dr. Maunganidze was appointed secretary/principal director in the Ministry of State for Special Affairs in 2004 before moving to the Ministry of Lands and Land Reform as principal director. He later moved to the Ministry of Anti-Corruption and Anti-Monopolies as principal director before being appointed to the Ministry of Media, Information, and Publicity in the same capacity.

Dr. Maunganidze holds several professional and academic qualifications from Bondolfi Teachers’ College, the University of Zimbabwe. and the Geneva Graduate School. Dr. Maunganidze was born on October 5, 1957 at Berejena Mission Hospital.
