Hurricane Michael tore through Virginia taking the lives of 5 people, bringing the total storm death toll to 11. In addition to the 5 who perished in Virginia, 4 died in Florida, and 1 person died in Georgia, and 1 in North Carolina.
It has been reported that at least 1,270,000 customers are without electricity across the seven states of Florida, North and South Carolina, Georgia, Maryland, Alabama, and Virginia. Many are also without water.
Because of the massive damage to buildings, roads, power lines, and trees, emergency responders are having great difficulty reaching some areas.
Michael is moving into the Atlantic Ocean as the search for survivors continues, which could, unfortunately, lead to a higher death toll.
