Alaska Airlines began daily nonstop service between Houston and Seattle this week.

“We’re pleased to bring Alaska’s award-winning service and low prices to our customers in Houston and Seattle,” said Steve Jarvis, vice president of marketing, sales, and customer experience. “This new daily service provides oil and energy business travelers with convenient connections between Houston, Alaska, and Calgary, Alberta.”

Houston is the third destination added to the Seattle-based carrier’s route system this year. Alaska began service to Austin, Texas, on August 3, and Bellingham, Washington on June 25, and will add daily service between Seattle and Atlanta on October 23, 2009.

Alaska will operate the flights with Boeing 737-800 aircraft, accommodating 16 passengers in first class and 141 passengers in the main cabin. Flights will offer Alaska’s Northern Bites meals-for-purchase service, which allows coach passengers to buy a meal onboard. Inflight service also will include Alaska Airlines’ digEplayer, a personal entertainment system offering a variety of movies, television shows, music, and other features.
