A small aircraft has crashed at the Al-Ain International Airport in the west of the United Arab Emirates, leaving at least four people dead, the country’s General Civil Aviation Authority (GCAA) says.

GCAA said in a statement on Monday that the Grumman 21T eight-seater aircraft went down late on Sunday shortly after its departure, AFP reported.

“Shortly after liftoff, the aircraft veered to the left and crashed on Taxiway Kilo,” the statement said.

Some reports say the passengers of the plane were all Americans.

The small plane was completely damaged and engulfed in flames, the statement added.

Investigation is underway to find the cause of the incident.
