For the second consecutive year, India continues to be the number one source market for Dubai. During 2017, a staggering 2.1 million Indians visited Dubai – a year-on-year increase of 15 percent. Obviously, Dubai’s charm is wooing the Indian outbound market. India is the first country to cross the 2 million mark in number of visitors.

According to data released by Dubai Tourism and Commerce Marketing, “overall, Dubai received 15.8 million global visitors, an increase of 6.2 percent over the previous year, and succeeds the 5% figure from the previous year, making Dubai the fourth most globally-visited destination.”

Given Dubai’s three-pronged strategic framework, which is focused on market diversity, agility, and personalization in outreach and continuous preposition evaluation, the popular emirate is on course to attract 20 million visitors by 2020.

Following India on the list of top visitors is Saudi Arabia, with 1.53 million visitors, a drop of 7%, and the UK, with 1.27 million, up 4%. In terms of the hospitality sector, to accommodate these large numbers, hotel rooms and apartments jumped to 107,431 keys, up by 4%.
