Hospitality and tourism growing in India

The Siksha O Anusadhan (SOA), a Deemed to be University located in the city of Bhubaneswar in the state of Odisha in India, is organizing a two-day national seminar on February 17 and Feb 18 under the theme of “Envisioning skilling, entrepreneurship and employability in the hospitality sector.”

India’s travel and tourism sector ranks 7th in the world in terms of its total contribution to the country’s GDP, according to the most recent report from the World Travel and Tourism Council (WTTC). The sector created 40.3 million jobs in 2016, generating US$208.9 billion.

The aim of the event is to provide a common platform for hospitality and tourism academicians, researchers, industry experts, existing entrepreneurs, startups, NGOs, and others to meet and network, according to Dr. Sitikantha Mishra, Dean and Advisor of the School of Hotel Management, SOA.

Dr. Mishra is a former Director of the Indian Institute of Travel and Tourism Management, Gwalior, apart from holding other positions.
