The National Association of Travel Agents Singapore’s (NATAS) Charity Golf 2017 brought together over 130 golfers and partners to raise over $30,000 for a good cause. The event, which took place on 20 November 2017 at the Orchid Country Club, saw NATAS partnering with AWWA as their adopted charity to raise funds and awareness for the underprivileged in Singapore.

AWWA has been reaching out and touching the lives of countless children, youth, elderly and families since 1970, through their programmes spanning education, care centres and homes. The money raised will assist the organisation in sustaining and growing their services so as to transform the lives of over 6,000 clients for the better.

The NATAS Golf Tournament was held annually from 2000 to 2014, and this year’s revival edition was made doubly special with a charity element added in for the first time. The full day event saw 90 key players and members of the Tourism and Hospitality sectors come together to network and interact over a meaningful afternoon of golf. This was followed by a dinner banquet during which golfers were joined by over 40 invited guests for an evening of music, lucky draw prizes and a silent auction to raise more funds for AWWA.

NATAS Charity Golf 2017 was a great chance for the industry to unite in the spirit of supporting a good cause. Mr Steven Ler, Acting President of NATAS thanked the participants of the event

and said that he was “heartened by their shared goodwill and passion to give back to the vulnerable in society.” He further emphasised that the tournament was paramount to “establishing and reinforcing the bonds and camaraderie built between ourselves, as fellow colleagues in the travel and tourism industry.”

In his opening speech, Guest-of-Honour Mr Lionel Yeo, Chief Executive of Singapore Tourism Board commended NATAS for their efforts in “driving corporate social responsibility, and also in championing capability development and professionalism for the industry.”

A wide array of sponsors readily stepped forward to support NATAS Charity Golf 2017; MasterCard (Platinum Sponsor), Singapore Airlines Limited (Gold Sponsor), Emirates (Silver Sponsor). Other sponsors included: Ark Industries, Avis Budget Group, Big S’ Holiday Pte Ltd, Cityneon Events Pte Ltd, Concepts Golf Management Pte Ltd, Golf Asia, Jumbo Group Limited, Philippines Tourism Promotions Board, Ramada And Days Hotels Singapore at Zhongshan Park, Satguru Travels & Tours and Shivam General Trading Pte Ltd, Taiwan Tourism Board, Team Concurs representing Prudential Singapore, Thai Airways International, Turkish Airlines and United Airlines.
