Trade is thriving in London this Easter due to more Londoners staying and enjoying their city, said the city’s tourist board Visit London.

It also said many UK couples and families had chosen London as an Easter short break destination and hotels had seen an influx of European visitors.

Theatre was cited as a popular choice with musicals such as Oliver!, Wicked, and Mamma Mia! leading.

Visit London said the expense of Europe was encouraging more Britons to stay.

Ray Jones, from Visit London, told BBC London 94.9FM that certain business sectors in London were doing particularly well this Easter.

“I am not going to put a figure on it but I believe this weekend most hotel rooms in London will be full, I think restaurants will do well. I know that theatres are packed.”
