Chandiwala Hospitality Ensemble kicks off in India

Budding professionals in the hospitality industry must stay abreast of rapid changes in the field. This sound advice came today on October 11 from Chef Subroto Goswami, executive chef and culinary area champion north and west for InterContinental Hotels Group in India. He was the chief guest at the inaugural of the 16th Chandiwala Hospitality Ensemble, where teams from 30 institutes are taking part in several interesting competitions.

Chef Goswami said that the challenges the industry is facing includes the fact that customers are well traveled, and health issues are gaining more importance. The students must be aware of what is happening all around them in the world and not confine themselves to only cooking.

Hone your skills, he told the participants, adding that those wearing the white uniforms – chefs – have the responsibility to also address sustainability issues and diabetes – two areas needing great attention.
