2015/16 Visit Britain and Visit England said International visitors to the UK spent an extra £800 million across the kingdom as a result of work by the national tourism agency VisitBritain. It meant that every £1 invested in VisitBritain’s activities resulted in an overseas visitor spending £23 in Britain.
2016/17 is expected to be another successful year for Visit Britain.Insiders talking about numbers to be announced that visitors spending again will be exceeding all expectation. Exact numbers will be released next week.
The figures are expected to be announced for its 2016-17 annual review, come on the back of strong growth from inbound tourism. From January to July this year there was a record 23.1 million overseas visits to the UK, up 8% on the same period last year with visitors spending £13.3 billion, up 9%.
