Martinique has become more accessible to US travelers thanks to newly-expanded service from American Eagle Airlines. Beginning May 1, 2009, American Eagle will offer daily service between its hub in San Juan, Puerto Rico and Fort-de-France, the capital of Martinique. The new daily service replaces previous American Eagle service, which operated four times weekly.

Muriel Wiltord, director of the Americas for the Martinique Promotion Bureau/CMT USA, commented on the expanded service, saying: โ€œThis is a wonderful boost for tourism in Martinique following the just-concluded general strike among our local unions. The strike may have had a minimal impact on tourism, but we intend to put forth a maximum effort to ensure a successful year for our travel industry partners and visitors to the island. This is a great start to that maximum effort, and I hope to have more good news to share soon.โ€

The new American Eagle service to Martinique will operate daily as follows:

From San Juan to Fort-de-France

Flight # 5020 โ€“ Departure 7:15 pm; Arrival 9:06 pmโ€จ

From Fort-de-France to San Juanโ€จ

Flight # 5021 โ€“ Departure 7:24 am; Arrival 9:25 am
