Ukraine International Airlines, the Eastern European country’s flag carrier, yesterday launched its first operation from Budapest Airport with its daily link to Kiev Boryspil.

Welcoming the inaugural flight with a ceremonial water arch and celebratory cake, Budapest’s latest airline partner unites the Hungarian gateway with Ukraine’s largest airport once again, having not served Boryspil since 2012.

Utilising its fleet of two-class 737-800s, Ukraine International Airlines’ service to Boryspil will complement Budapest’s existing link to Kiev Zhulyany, with the Hungarian airport now offering more than 2,500 weekly seats to the Ukraine.

“With transfers now made possible from Kiev to Almaty, Amman, Bangkok and Tehran, local travellers will also have convenient connections through our newest carrier’s domestic network,” explains Jost Lammers, CEO, Budapest Airport.
