Canadians are dedicated to ensuring Canada’s natural environment is conserved and restored for present and future generations. Every year, Canadians throughout the country are proud to mark this commitment by celebrating Canadian Environment Week.

Today, Minister of Environment and Climate Change, Catherine McKenna, launched Canadian Environment Week celebrations highlighting the themes “Healthy Environment” and “Connecting People to Nature.” Throughout the week, the Minister will invite Canadians to take part in multiple events, including World Environment Day activities, which Canada is proudly hosting on June 5. This is an opportunity for Canada to bring global attention to the critical role that healthy ecosystems and protected environments play right now and for future generations.

Everyone is invited to take part in Canadian Environment Week festivities. Families, individuals, schools, and businesses can join the celebrations by sharing their outdoor fun and environmental activities on social media using #EnviroWeek.

Canadian Environment Week activities and events are available on the Canadian Environment Week Website.

Quote

“As a nation, we are proud of the rich and varied natural landscape that graces Canada from north to south and west to east. Canadiansโ€”governments, businesses, Indigenous peoples, and youthโ€”are working together to ensure that our children and grandchildren will have cleaner air and a healthier environment. This is the spirit of Canadian Environment Week.”
โ€“ Catherineย McKenna, Minister of Environment and Climate Change
