This year, 90,000 people took part in the Pride parade and got the center of Brussels shaking. Participants once again took to the streets to spread their message, their joy and their good humor. Brussels confirms its status as European Capital of LGBT+.

The center of the European capital has been decked out with the colors of the rainbow for several days. The streets, several pedestrian crossings, and even a Brussels bus, all wore the rainbow colors. If Belgian Pride is synonymous with a party atmosphere and good humor, it is also an opportunity for citizens, intellectuals and militants to voice their support for the community and open up paths towards policy rethinks.

The Pride Festival, a high point in the lives of the LGBT+ community in Brussels, saw May in with a range of events around the theme “CROSSING BORDERS”. An opportunity for the heads of the three Belgian LGBT+ associations โ€“ RainbowHouse Brussels, Arc-en-ciel Wallonie and ร‡avaria โ€“ to tackle the issue of asylum and migration, focusing on the journeys of LGBT+ migrants.

While atmosphere and joie de vivre were the watchwords of these two weeks in Brussels, Pride nevertheless remains an event at which, every year, the LGBT+ world calls out, with one voice, for understanding and equality.

And obviously the party doesn’t stop here! It will continue into the wee hours throughout the capital. From the Mont des Arts to the GAY VILLAGE’s street parties, not to mention all the evening events highlighting the diversity of the LGBT+ scene, Pride 2017 is impossible to pass up.

Brussels is proud to host Belgian Pride, for the 22nd year in a row. And since 2012, visit.brussels has associated itself with Belgian Pride to make the party even bigger and even better! It deals not just with logistical support to the organization, but also provides greater security for participants to complete the party. By doing this, visit.brussels demonstrates its support for this now unmissable event that marks the start of the Pride season in Europe.
