The 50-room La Hacienda hotel in Lircay, Peru, was built in Colonial times 200 years ago, but now it no longer exists.
The hotel completely slid off a cliff and into the river Sicra after heavy rains that continued for 10 straight hours, caused the cliff edge above the river to erode.
Hotel management evacuated all guests, prior to the sad incident.
The Huancavelia region is enduring the heavy rains, as other buildings in town have also been either destroyed or damaged. Landslides are also causing roadblocks.
