Seychelles looking at Finland as tourism source market at MATKA

The Seychelles Tourism Board Manager for the Nordics market, Ms.

The Seychelles Tourism Board Manager for the Nordics market, Ms. Karen Confait kicked off the new year by attending the MATKA Trade & Consumer fair in Helsinki, Finland held from the 19th – 22nd January 2017.

She was joined on the fair by STB’s Senior Marketing Executive Ms. Stephanie Lablache, Mrs. Christine Ozouf from Air Seychelles & representatives from Air Berlin, Ms Anna-Maria Kirchner, Mr Jan Anderstedt and Ms Laura Kaijanto.

Organized annually in January in Helsinki, Finland, Matka Nordic Travel Fair is the largest travel industry event in Northern Europe with more than 1000 exhibitors from 80 different countries participating.

Annually the event is visited by more than 50.000 consumers and almost 20.000 travel trade professionals.

The 4 day exhibition opens for the travel trade professionals on the first day followed by the general public over the weekend. It’s the perfect platform at the beginning of the year to meet our local trade partners and strategize the way forward for the rest of the year.
Matka has been on the Seychelles Tourism Board’s calendar for the past 6 years and we have seen that the interest has grown significantly for the destination. With our location in the tropical Sun & Sea area, Seychelles has been a favorite amongst the visitors, hundreds flocked to the stand over the weekend either looking for a new exotic holiday destination or has already chosen Seychelles and came by to ask for further information.

“With the new airline dynamics on the market, we will surely see further growth on the Finnish market this year, stated Ms. Karen Confait, as the main constraint for the local travel trade was the lack of good airline connectivity to the destination. With Qatar Airways, Turkish Airlines and the Air Seychelles flights via Düsseldorf, the market is now well served and many operators have started several promotions and campaigns as well as pushing packages directly to the consumers during MATKA itself.”
