Report findings from Sabre Corporation indicates that more Chinese travelers are going overseas in 2017, in place of a lunar new year spent at home. The trend among Chinese travelers today is towards more โ€œself-orientedโ€ travel.

Termed an โ€œExplorer,โ€ almost one in two Chinese travelers fall into this category (46%). Theyโ€™re typically seeking more self-discovery through travel, and the opportunity to embrace new local customs while injecting a level of spontaneity and flexibility into their trip.

The report shows that 1 in 3 Asian travelers plan to travel 3 or more times per year. If you take China alone, at the start of the millennium, Chinese travelers made 10 million international trips; in 15 years, this figure has increased tenfold to nearly 130 million trips per year.
