Fraport is in top 100 most sustainable companies

Fraport AG, the owner and operator of Frankfurt Airport (FRA), has been recognized as one of the world’s 100 most sustainable companies.

Fraport AG, the owner and operator of Frankfurt Airport (FRA), has been recognized as one of the world’s 100 most sustainable companies.

The recognition was announced by the Canadian magazine and research firm Corporate Knights during the Annual Meeting of the World Economic Forum, which is currently being held in Davos (Switzerland).

The recognition goes along with Fraport’s inclusion into the renowned annual “Global 100” index. To compile the index, Corporate Knights this year evaluated 4,973 companies from around the globe with regard to their economic, environmental and social performance. A total of 14 quantitatively measurable indicators are applied to determine a company’s inclusion into the index.

Fraport AG’s executive board chairman, Dr. Stefan Schulte, said: “Frankfurt Airport’s future sustainability is not only measured in terms of connectivity and revenues, but also with regard to what we do for our employees and our environment. Being recognized as one of the world’s 100 most sustainable companies confirms us in our approach to combine economic growth with responsible management.”

The inclusion into the Global 100 index is yet another recognition for Fraport’s Group-wide sustainability and ethical commitment. In 2016, the Frankfurt Airport company also obtained several other awards for its responsible business activities.

For the eleventh time in a row, Fraport was listed in the FTSE4Good Index, which is one of the most important indexes to measure the sustainability performance of companies. Once again, also Oekom Research, a Munich-based rating agency in the area of sustainable investment, awarded Fraport AG its “Prime Status” rating. Moreover, Fraport retained its listing in both the “Ethibel Sustainability Index (ESI) Excellence Europe” and the “Euronext Vigeo Eiris – Eurozone 120” index.

Fraport has also been included in the national “Deutschland Ethik 30” stock index since its introduction in 2014.
