The Nepal Tourism Board (NTB) will work with its Honorary Public Relations Representatives of Europe, Nepal’s diplomatic missions, Nepali diaspora, and local friends of Nepal in Europe, to reach out to its target audience in the Europe market through a new campaign.

According to the CEO of the NTB, Mr. Joshi, tourists coming from Europe contribute significantly to Nepal’s tourism industry. Mr. Joshi hoped to increase this momentum further by the campaign.


Nepal Tourism Board celebrated its 18th Anniversary on Dec. 31, 2016, in an intimate program attended by officials from the Ministry of Culture, Tourism & Civil Aviation (MoCTCA), tourism association heads, tourism industry veterans, officials, partners, and stakeholders.

NTB’s Annual Souvenir “In Focus 2016” was unveiled and released at the program by Chief Guest Hon’ble Minister of Culture, Tourism & Civil Aviation Mr. Jeevan Bahadur Shahi, and Chairman of NTB Executive Committee and Secretary of the Ministry of Culture Tourism & Civil Aviation Mr. Shankar Prasad Adhikari.

Similarly, Nepal’s promotional campaign in Europe for the upcoming year “Visit Nepal – Europe 2017” was also announced during the program and unveiled by pioneers of Nepal’s tourism industry Ms. Ambica Shrestha and Mr. Karna Shakya.

Mr. Deepak Raj Joshi, Chief Executive Officer – NTB, welcomed the audience and briefed them about the work done by NTB since January 2016. Mr. Joshi, expressed positivity and optimism about the growth of tourism in the coming years and called out partnership among all in the tourism industry.


Chief Guest Hon’ble Minister Mr. Shahi expressed good wishes and encouraged all for the upcoming programs and campaigns in tourism. Similarly, Chairman of NTB and Secretary of MoCTCA Mr. Adhikari noted that NTB had overcome many hurdles in the past, and that it was now time to create new milestones for more effective promotion.

Ms. Shrestha and Mr. Shakya, tourism professionals and pioneers of the industry, also spoke during the program calling out for unity in the tourism sector and encouraging innovation and partnership among all for better outcome.

A presentation was done by Mr. Deepesh Man Shakya, NTB’s Honorary Public Relations Representative (PRR) in Ireland, on the details of the “Visit Nepal – Europe 2017” initiation by the Non-Resident Nepalis (NRN) in Europe. The campaign’s primary goal is to increase the number of tourists visiting Nepal from Europe in 2017 by 30 to 40 percent. This campaign is also expected to add impetus to the ‘Visit Nepal Year 2018’ announced by Nepal Government earlier this year.

Mr. Kundan Sharma, President of NTB Employees’ Union (NTBEU), also spoke during the program updating the audience about the employees’ issues.
