Scanad Managing Director Betty Radier was earlier today appointed as the new Chief Executive of the Kenya Tourism Board (KTB), following an extensive selection process. The announcement was made by Board Chairman Mr. Jimmy Kariuki.

Acting CEO Ms. Jacinta Nzioka will continue to hold fort until December 1, when Betty will be formally introduced to the KTB staff and the public at large. Betty Radier comes to KTB with nearly two decades in leading positions in some of East Africa’s topmost advertising agencies and with a BA and an MBA has impressive credentials to show.

Jacinta, it was learned, will continue in her role as KTB’s Director of Marketing, a crucial role given the challenges the country’s tourism industry has been facing for the past few years.

The announcement came on the eve of the 2016 edition of the Magical Kenya Travel Expo which will kick off on the 12th of this month and run for 3 days until the 14th, when a gala dinner, during which the annual EcoWarrior Awards will be announced, will end this year’s MKTE.

Nearly 200 hosted buyers and a number of international media houses are in Nairobi for this key event, important not just for Kenya but the entire region, given that S!TE in Dar es Salaam has just announced there will be no trade show this year, postponing that event by a year.
