Frankfurt Airport: Thrilling visitors with unique experience

There will be more than the obvious reason of traveling to be at the Frankfurt Airport come October 9.

On this date, yet another extraordinary AirXperience Day will take place in the publicly accessible parts of Terminals 1 and 2 at Frankfurt Airport. Visitors will not only have an opportunity to explore the airport, but also to follow the legendary Route 66 across the United States. This celebrated highway links the populous city of Chicago on Lake Michigan with the glitter and glamor of Hollywood in California. It is associated with grandiose landscapes, wide open spaces, and the quintessentially American yearning for freedom. The airport’s operator, Fraport, is teaming up with Hit Radio FFH to evoke its ambience in the terminals.

The program will include fascinating musical performances and shows, including an extravagant Hollywood Show featuring world-class imitators who interpret Tina Turner, Michael Jackson and Tom Jones, mimicking their talent, stage presence and voice with flair and authenticity.

The “Big Band Swing Company” will perform the greatest hits of Benny Goodman, Glenn Miller and Count Basie, who were instrumental in creating the jazz style known as Swing in Chicago in the 1940s. A band calling itself “The Hound Dog” will knock everyone’s socks off with topnotch Rockabilly. And a vintage dance show will bring Boogie Woogie, West Coast Swing and other hot rhythms to life in honor of this historic road.

Another highlight will be a visit by German world record holders Doreen Kröber and Andreas Zmuda, who are currently circumnavigating the world in an ultralight trike (a kind of powered hang glider controlled by weight-shifting). They will make a stop in Frankfurt on their way to Australia to show exciting pictures and report on America’s most famous highway from a bird’s-eye perspective. Visitors to the AirXperience Day can witness their flying contraption from the Visitors’ Terrace.

True to the motto “the path is the destination”, the Fernweh-Winter travel agency will stage multimedia presentations that take visitors on an adventurous trip along Route 66.

The activities of the AirXperience Day will also once again extend to the modernized Visitors’ Terrace in Terminal 2. Visitors can take advantage of it to watch the action out on the airfield while munching popcorn and enjoying an American Budweiser beer (there will also be nonalcoholic apple beer for the kids). Both will be included in the price of admission.

The popular prize rally, a regular feature of the AirXperience Days, will give visitors a chance to win attractive air trips, among other things. There will naturally also be plenty of appropriate entertainment for young guests, including colorful face painting, arts & crafts, and selfies with Fluggi the airport mascot.

As always, all of the activities of the AirXperience Day (except the Visitors’ Terrace) will be free, and guests who come by car can park for four hours without paying in terminal parking structure P2, P3, P8 or P9. They can get their parking tickets validated at special stands at the event.

The next two AirXperience Days at Frankfurt Airport will take place on November 5 and 6 during the 3rd international “Destination: Wine” fair. Winemakers and wine merchants will once again present premium products from around the world. This time the program will be supplemented by a wide variety of delicious food. This year’s last AirXperience Day will then be held on December 11 with the title “Around the World: A Christmas Journey.”
