KAMPALA, Uganda (eTN) – This year’s Kampala Carnival, dubbed Kampala City Festival, was hosted by the city’s Executive Director, Jennifer Musisi, who led thousands of fun-loving city revelers in celebrating the much-anticipated event.

In its fifth edition, the festival has become the city’s signature event held annually every first Sunday in the month of October. Caravans of bikers, skaters, entertainers, and even vintage cars snaked through the city. There were major sponsors, including Uganda Breweries, Kampala Casino, NBS Television, and City Tyres, and food and drink vendors used the event to cash in on the public from families with children to revelers who danced till the wee hours.

Held every October to celebrate culture, innovation, unity, and social life, this highly-anticipated event is a moment for revelers to share, learn, and network while acting as an economic engine for companies, organizations, and small businesses to flourish.

The event morphed from a simple street party organized by Ugandans who got the idea mainly from experiencing the Notting Hill Carnival. It only picked up impetus when big sponsors cashed in to make it the city’s biggest street party of the year.
