NEW YORK, NY – Japan National Tourism Organization (JNTO) hosted the 2nd Tourism Seminar on diverse travel opportunities and cultural attractions in Japan and drew in more than 160 attendees from the travel industry and media. The event had a major appearance of Japanese Prime Minister, Mr. Shinzo Abe as well as talks with high profile figures in the cultural and sports fields.


Mr. Abe emphasized the further promotion of Japanese tourism and encouraged more US visitors to experience true hospitality throughout the country. He also expressed his desire to use 2020 Tokyo Games as a catalyst for strengthening global relationships and revitalizing local tourism in Japan.

To promote diverse regional destinations, JNTO hosted guest speakers: Mr. YOSHIKI, a globally-renowned Japanese musician, Mr. Bobby Valentine, a former MLB and Japanese Professional Team manager, Ms. Kaori Icho and Ms. Kasumi Ishikawa, Japan’s Rio Olympic medalists.

Each of the guest speakers discussed their cultural perspectives on different destinations in Japan including Tokyo as the host city for 2020 Olympics and Paralympics Games.

Alongside the event, JNTO showcased a promotional video on Toshiba’s Iconic Times Square Vision Screens and appealed Japan’s existing and potential tourism attractions not only towards US travelers but towards all travelers visiting New York City from around the globe.
