MANCHESTER, England – The Association of British Professional Conference Organizers (ABPCO) has revealed the shortlist for their 2016 Excellence Awards.

• Best Conference by an In-House Conference Organizer – Royal Society of Medicine (BeyondBORDERS); Diabetes UK (Diabetes UK Professional Conference)

• Best Conference by an Agency Conference Organizer – Meeting Makers (IAPD 2015); Happening (International Symposium on Pediatric Neurosurgery 2016); MCI UK (World Hepatitis Summit 2015); Conference Partners (EuroScience Open Forum 2016)

• Best Industry Partnership – SECC (RCN Congress), Cvent (AEO Conference) and Shocklogic (AAGBI 2016)

The Excellence Awards, which will once again coincide with the Chairmen’s Lunch, will take place at Manchester Central on Friday 9 December. An independent panel selected the shortlisted candidates – and during the lunch each entry presents details of their event, demonstrating best practice and expertise. Winners are then selected through peer voting amongst those in attendance.

“Now in its third year, the Awards have gone from strength to strength. The caliber and number of entries continues to grow making the shortlisting process ever harder,” commented Nicole Leida, joint-chair of ABPCO. “This year’s shortlist contains an incredibly strong selection of events from across the sector pulled together by industry leading professionals. I would like to congratulate all those who have made it through to the final judging amongst their peers and look forward to their presentations on the day.”

Last year’s winners included NewcastleGateshead Convention Bureau (Best Supplier Partner), Diabetes UK (Best Conference by an In-House Conference Organizer) and Opening Doors & Venues (Best Conference by an Agency Conference Organizer).

Ahead of the Excellence Awards and Chairmen’s Lunch, a dinner has also been arranged which will take place the evening before at Manchester Central Library.

ABPCO is the UK’s leading organization for professional conference and event organisers, industry associates and those studying for, or seeking a career in the conference and meetings industry.
