MIAMI INTERNATIONAL AIRPORT, FL – All flights out of Fort Lauderdale-Hollywood International and Miami International Airport were temporarily grounded until at least 12:45pm Thursday afternoon, due to a power outage.
The ground stop was issued by FAA over a power problem at the Miami Terminal Radar Approach Control center. According to an FAA official, Miami Air Route Traffic Control Center has taken over the airspace normally handled by the TRACON and is safely handling flights that are in the airspace.
โThe FAA has issued a ground stop for flights into Miami International, Fort Lauderdale-Hollywood International and South Florida satellite airports due to a power problem at the Miami Terminal Radar Approach Control (TRACON). Miami Air Route Traffic Control Center has taken over the airspace normally handled by the TRACON and is safely handling flights that are in the airspace,โ FAA statement said.
