This news is alarming. The Washington DC metro system is used by ten of thousands of tourists, government officials, and local residents every day to get around the US capital city.

This man was hired to serve and protect the metro system and the traveling community in the US capital city. Was this police officer working for DC Metro planning a terror attack supported by the Islamic State terror group? Are there more? Is Washington DC or any other US city in danger? How much can you trust a cop in America? How safe is it to travel the Washington DC Metro system?

These are questions emerging after Nicholas Young, a Metro Transit police officer in the Washington DC area has been arrested and charged with attempting to provide material support to the Islamic State.

He was trying to help Islamic State ISIS operatives find ways to communicate in secret, according to ABC News, which first reported the story. The officer was sending “stored value” cards to IS abroad, CBS News reported.

According to an indictment filed in federal court in Alexandria, Virginia, Young was convinced by an undercover FBI officer to send him codes for mobile messaging cards.

Young, 36 and a 12-year veteran of transit police force, was arrested Wednesday morning in Metropolitan Police Headquarters.
