“One Civilization and Cultural Diversity” exhibition in Riyadh

HRH Prince Sultan bin Salman bin Abdulaziz, president of the Saudi Commission for Tourism & Antiquities (SCTA), inaugurated the GCC Monuments Exhibition titled “One Civilization and Cultural Diversity” at the National Museum at King Abdul Aziz Historical Center, Riyadh. The one month exhibition displays more than 700 rare monumental pieces, 100-120 pieces from each GCC country representing chronological sequence, in addition to the gallery showcasing photos of the major archeological and historical locations, and playing of documentaries on major historical sites in the region.
The opening event was attended by Prince Faisal bin Abdullah bin Mohammad, assistant chief of general intelligence, and Abdulrahman A. Al-Atiyya, GCC secretary general.
HRH Prince Sultan commented in a press statement that a new law for monuments will be issued soon to counter demolition of monuments. Abdulrahman A. Al-Atiyya, GCC secretary general expressed his pleasure with participation in opening this exhibition and his thanks for the kingdom for hosting the event indicting high interest in GCC joint action. He viewed that the exhibition emphasizes the harmony and diversity of the cultural and historical path of the GCC countries since pre-historic times.
This is the second session of the exhibition. The first session was held in Fujaira, UAE, and it rotates every two years to another GCC country.
